Nora's Page
One thing that can happen once a person finds Icelandic Sheep is the discovery
that (generally speaking)
all things Icelandic are pretty cool, and have an aura of
timeless uniqueness and purity about them.  We love Icelandic horses and Icelandic
chickens...Icelandic Sheepdogs are no exception.  We were crazy about the dogs at
The Lavender Fleece, Nora in particular, and really wanted a puppy from her.
Unfortunately, our resources go to the sheep first, so although we wished for a
canine companion, it seemed this was a long-range goal.
Sometimes miracles do happen, and sometimes a misfortune can be turned into a
dream-come-true.  At two years old, Nora had her OFA hip exam, and was
determined to have a weak joint on one side.  While this wouldn't be a serious
liability in a companion dog of her size, she was probably unsuitable as a prospective
mother of breeding-quality dogs.  Laurie made the difficult decision to let Nora come
to us as a family member, where she is very happy barking at the sheep and living the
life of Riley as the "only dog".  She has become an important part of our lives, and we
are so grateful to have her.  This is her very own page - look for more photos as time
goes by.
