Lambing Season 2007
Ramling One now 12 pounds
Ramling Two now 11 pounds
4/1/07   Well how 'bout that!  Caraway "April Fooled" us by having twin white ram lambs
out of Ilex when we were expecting grays!  You just never know!  These fellows weighed 10
pounds and 9 pounds respectively, and have huge horn buds.   Ramling 2 was a breech
presentation, and we are fortunate that we were there to assist.  Everybody is doing great -
Caraway is an awesome mother.  Lambs gaining 3/4 pound a day.
4/4/07   Well how 'bout that!  Witchhazel gave birth to Tiger's first lambs, and there were
THREE!  We have a white ram lamb weighing 5.5 pounds, a white ram lamb weighing 5.75
pounds, and a solid black ewe lamb weighing 5.75 pounds.  All are doing great and
bouncing already!  The little black girl is called Kalmiette after her grandmother - she will
be staying in the flock.  Ram lambs carry color, and genetics from Visir, Moli, Bambi,
Blaevar, Hunn, and Heli.  Will no doubt throw prolific daughters!  Both available.
4/4/07   Sweetbriar gave birth to our first lambs out of Chinquapin this afternoon; a 5 pound
moorit/grey ram lamb with large horn buds, and a solid moorit 4 pound ewe lamb, both of
which could carry spotting.  As you can see Sweetbriar, although not quite a year old, is an
excellent mother.  Way to go, girlfriend!  Sweetbriar's daughter will be staying in the flock -
the ram lamb is available, and carries bloodlines from Visir, Moli, Rektor, and Leifur.
4/4/07   MardiGras gave birth to our first lamb out of Hokan this afternoon; a 10 pound black
spotted ewe lamb!  This lamb has a lot of attitude - already stomping her feet at her mother if
MardiGras won't stand still for nursing.  Since we no longer own her dad, we will be keeping
this monster gal.
After this lamb was weighed, the scale was not re-zeroed, so each of the
following weights was 1 pound off.  I'll be changing that now, but thought you
should know what happened, because some of you will notice!
4/5/07   Bramble gave birth to her first set of twins this morning; a black/grey 8 pound ram
lamb and a black spotted 7.5 pound ewe lamb out of "Ash".   The ewe lamb didn't come for
almost 2 hours, and she is still unable to stand on her own.  We will continue monitoring her
progress, and hope that some colostrum will give her strength.  Fortunately Bramble has not
rejected this lamb, and will stand quietly to be milked.  Wish the weather would change!
