MORE LAMBS
4/16/2006 born to Athena (SRX360J) and Pyrus
(LF116R )horned twin black/grey ewe lambs (I'm sure
this time)
weighing in at 10.5 pounds and 10 pounds
respectively.  Athena broke through an electric
fence, and gave birth to these girls in the middle of
our hay field during a thunderstorm.  Everybody is
looking great in spite of all that.  We will be
keeping one of these gals for sure - just beautiful!
These girls will have lovely,
delicate faces when they
mature, plus nice size.
4/18/2006 born to Witch-hazel (MAE205N) and Ilex (LF111R)
horned twins:  Ram lamb white with cream spots
(phaeomelenin?) - weighing in at 8.75 pounds; ewe lamb
white with black spots on her legs - weighing in at 9.75
pounds.  Both absolutely gorgeous!!!
4/18/2006 born to Bramble (JDDL109R) and "Ash" ((LF116R)
a fabulous black spotted ram lamb, weighing in at an even
10 pounds.  Bramble lambed
unassisted as a one-winter
ewe, and is a very protective mother.  Way to go, Bramble!
4/19/2006 born to Aralia (BLW003J) and an Eirson
(SRX756L)
from The Creeks' Edge, snow-white polled (?)
TRIPLETS!  Way to go, Aralia!!!  A ewe lamb
(sorry
Alan)
weighing in at 10.5 pounds, and ram lamb weighing
in at 10 pounds, and ANOTHER ewe lamb
(really sorry
Alan)
weighing in at 9 pounds.  AWESOME!  Ram lamb
was born breech; really makes you realize how
important your input as a shepherd is - we could have
ended up with twins instead of three lovely lambs.  We
will be keeping one ewe lamb for sure.
Ten and 1/2 pound ewe lamb
Nine pound ewe lamb
Ten pound ram lamb
4/19/2006 born to Kalmia (LF132R) and Ilex (LF111R) a
ten pound white ram lamb with HUGE horn buds.
This lamb was so big for Kalmia that I couldn't pull
him out - Thank God for Buddy! I honestly don't know
what Kalmia and I would have done without him.  One
of us would have probably died, and the other one
would have sat and cried.  These big lambs are really
something!  This ram lamb carries the bloodlines of
Visir, Bambi, Blaevar, Moli, Hunn, and Heli.  WOW!!!

Update: Due to the trauma of this birthing, Kalmia
weakened overnight, and died yesterday afternoon, in
spite of everything we tried to do for her.  I cried a
river, especially as I feel that we caused this tragedy
by feeding hay too high in protein.  Shepherd beware -
you CAN kill these sheep with kindness!  Kalmia will
be greatly missed by all, as she was a special pet.
